Nov Birchbox and Birchbox Shop Haul

I have good and sad news. Good news I finally used my Birchbox points and purchased some pretty good things from the Birchbox Shop. The bad news is that I had about 40 points expire :( Once they expire there is no getting them back. 

For those of you who are not aware of what I am talking about re: Birchbox points, here's a little explanation. 
You can subscribe to Birchbox which is a monthly sample box subscription that is sent to you with makeup, perfume, skin care and more for only $10 per month (shipping included). It is like a little gift every month. Here are some previous months Birch boxes.

Moving on. After getting your box you can review every item in your box and get 10 points for each review. You only get points for reviewing items in your box not other items on the site. You can also get 50 points for every person you refer to Birchbox and gets a box. Every 100 points equals $10. Keep in mind points expire after 1 year. Yes I hoarded my points and they expired. When I got my 1st box I didn't know about the points and never reviewed anything. Lesson learned. 
I finally purchased from the Birchbox shop and this is what I got.

this is a fresh fruity scent, I love that this is in a roller ball for and the scent has no waste. You roll it on you and not the whole room.

Last was a filler so I wouldn't waste 60 birchbox points. The Clean Well All natural Hand sanitizing Wipes. 

My total without the wipes was $64 (640 birchbox points) that would mean I would use 700 points, so because of that I need to get something worth 60 points ($6) or I would just loose those points. I hope this makes sense.

BirchBox November 2012

This month's BirchBox theme is GIVE.  

They did do something a little different than all the previous months. Instead of the typical mini package wrapped in tissue paper this month we got a mini reusable box. It is quite cute to use as a stocking stuffer. I am going to search for what to put in my box to recycle it. 

Inside the BirchBox was:
1 Masqueology Revitalizing Eye Mask.  A full size would include 3 masks @ $24
these little pads you apply under your eyes to help reduce puffiness and brightening dark circle. You apply them and sit for 20 min. After that remove and massage the gel into under eye area. Ahh feeling is what you get after using it. There is a cooling sensation after about 5 minutes which is similar to the cooling effect whan putting minty lip balm on your lips, but for your under eye without a burning feeling. The patches are slimy and slippery. A really neat texture and feeling to say the least. I didn't notice a difference while looking at my eyes, but I could feel a difference and I REALLY ENJOYED using this item. I am sure I left it on longer than 20 minutes cause I was loving the feeling so much.

Kiehl's Creme de Corps - full size 1L @ $70
for use with very dry sin which is pretty good timing considering the change in the weather. Dry air is on it's way. To use apply after showering and rub especially to elbows heels knees, etc and let soak in before dressing. It has Beta-carotene and cocoa butter.
Sample size 1.0 oz approx $5

Stila all over shimmer liquid luminizer - set of 3 @$20
This sells as a set of 3 minis. Pink Shimmer, Rose Gold shimmer and bronze shimmer. The one in my box was the Bronze shimmer. This gives a really nice glow/shimmer. The brush applicator is very nice and since a little goes a long way this sample will last me quite a while. That makes me happy!

Next was from MCMC Phoenix fragrance full size 40ml is $95
This is a little fruity and a little musky in my opinion. It is nice, but it is not a scent I am usually drawn to. 

Lastly in the box were the extras also from Masqueology.  7D Moisture Day & Night cream and a Masque Cleanse. The smell was a bit strong and herbal. Like being in a salon or spa. 


 

Although the items in the box seemed minimal this month, when I was reviewing the contents I thought they were decent items. The Stila is a definite use item and well as the Kiehl's Creme de Corps. I always appreciate perfumes cause I love them =, but hate the high cost of them so this is a way to try many scents. The Masqueology eye patches are unusual and hey a pricy item in my book.  Just the 3 items (Kiehls, Stila and Masqueology) alone is approximately $19 alone. 

Yes I would have liked my box to be jam packed with stuff, but as I always say.....sometimes the box is filled with completely amazing items and sometimes it is just ok and other times it is eh. I personally enjoy getting my sample box monthly. It is a little gift to myself. I have seen Birchbox go thru ups and downs. It is the luck of the draw every month. I still would not give it up. $10 is not bad for sampling items I would have never otherwise tried for myself.

July Glamour Birchbox

I love the boxes that are collabs with different companies! It makes it that much more fun!

It is quite obvious that they are doing the 5 Senses!

These are my 1st thoughts.

So let's take a look at each below

Hearing:

The cutest ear buds EVER!! The pair I had were pretty pathetic and needed to be buried. There was only one ear bud left and they were very uncomfortable. Check out my video at the end to see how sad they were.

Taste:

Minteas in ginger pear (regroup)

I thought it was interesting that they have 5 flavors and each flavor is for a certain reason. Example is retreat (relax), reboot, resist (antioxidants), regroup (mine to focus), and results 

Pretty cool! (and its a cool packaging too)

Smell:

Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance. This is a nice sample I would have loved a sprayer on it cause it just distributes more evenly when applied. This has a fresh floral, musk like scent.

Sight:

Initially when I opened this I thought it was a face mask. Luckily I read the little print on the back and realized it is a HAIR MASQUE. It smells really tropical and makes you say ahhhh. I  t is a little thinner in consistency than other hair masques and I have not yet tried it.  GLOSS/Moderne Hair mask

Sight:

This was something I was excited to come in my Glamour Birchbox. I have heard so much about the Stila Lip Glazes and was so happy to finally get one. The color I got was "lights". A very pretty peachy nude with shimmer in it. I love this color. I also like the feel of this gloss. It is not too sticky and is a perfect color for every day.

Touch:

These are Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens (sheets)

I LOVE blotting sheets. I have them at home, in my car, in my purse and at work. I also do not have the same one in either location. There are so many types of sheets from plastic like to paper one. With antioxidants to acne prevention properties. Theses are very nice cause they have green tea extract and smell just like green tea. They are also more paper like vs the plastic type. They are also quite large compared to most blotting paper/sheets. These are AWESOME! Just the scent makes me feel healthy and perky like I just did something right for my skin. 

That is my contents for my July Glamour Birchbox. I am excited for the upcoming months and hope that they will continue to send great boxes out. I know that there are different contents in everyones Birchbox based on their profile entered when you join, but it would be nice to chose the product you get. Sometimes I see other boxes and think man I would have prefered that over something I got in my box. At the same time it is exciting to get the element of SURPRISE too.

May BirchBox Gossip Girl

This month was suppose to be a big month. BirchBox has been doing something different and teaming up with different companies. The 1st was Teen Vogue. That was AMAZING! This month was everything to do with the TV show Gossip Girl.

When I swatched the liner on my arm it did not come off for anything. It has a slight sparkle which is barely visible when used. I thought I was going to have a really difficult time removing it, but if you remove it with warm water it just rolls right off. It is almost like the mascara that comes off in little tubes. Very similar and easy to remove.  

• Miracle skin transformer Body in GLOW with SPF 20

Full size 3.38 oz $34.00
This is a great thing! It makes my pale legs have a bit of color and look healthy and glowing since I have yet to get any sun this year. Smells just like sunscreen. I could also use it on my shoulders when wearing a strapless dress to hide the "farmer tan" from my tank tops. This is one of those Why Didn't I Think of That products. So smart and good for you too with the SPF.

• Ojon volume advance Shampoo

Full size 8.5 fl oz. $22.00
This smells like I just got my hair done in a salon. This was good for about 3 1/2 uses. I did like it, but I would never pay $22 for a bottle of regular sized shampoo. That seems a bit extreme to me. It was nice, but not out of this world. Thanks for the sample and chance to use.  I have very long weighed down hair and I didn't notice a huge lift in my hair.

• Extra a note card with XOXO on one side. I am going to send my Honey a little message with it! I think he will appreciate it. Afterall it does have the Hugs and Kisses on the back. Sending a special little hand written message is way better than a text any day. Think about it Wouldn't you like to get a little note for no reason? OF COURSE YOU WOULD!!

Review

Stila Forever your curl mascara review
                   I was pleasantly surprised to get the Stila forever your curl mascara in my October BirchBox. The tube was small, but to be expected as a sample. I am not sure if the regular brush is the same size or not, but it seemed a little too small. I did have to put multiple coats on my lashes and it does seem to give the length. It is build-able, but it takes time to build it up. I am always in a rush to in the morning to get ready I do think it helps keep the curl, but I really like to have a mascara to thicken my lashes since my lashes are non existent without any mascara. The claim of keeping the curl to your lashes, I think is valid, but I still need to continue to use to have the final answer. I tend to continue to reach for my old faithful mascara since it gives me the thickness I crave. I will try a few more times and take my time trying to build it up to my liking. 


Stila is a brand that flags out in my mind and I win't give up on this yet.
